The Rustler men's soccer team traveled to Southern Alberta on the weekend to take on the Olds College Broncos and the SAIT Trojans.
Saturday, the Rustlers faced the Broncos, who the Rustlers defeated in Lloydminster two weeks ago. The weekend, the results were different for the Rustlers, as they dropped the match 2-1. The Rustlers goal was scored in the 55th minute by Grant Skoretz. The Rustlers had plenty of scoring chances in the second half but could not find the back of the net to tie the game.
"We had the ball in their half for 90% of the first half," Rustlers Head Coach Kevin Wagner said, "but we were still down 2-0 at the half. They had two shots on goal and two goals scored. We just didn't execute well and didn't have a sense of urgency early enough."
Sunday, the Rustlers were in Calgary to face the SAIT Trojans. SAIT led 3-0 at the half and added two more goals in the second half to win 5-0. Josh Hatzenbuuhler made nine saves for the Rustlers. The Rustlers Player of the Game was Mark Anderson.
"We wanted to play a certain way today," Wagner said, "and that way didn't work for us."
The Rustlers return to the field October 14th and 15th when they play host to the Lethbridge Kodiaks and Medicine Hat Rattlers.
