Rustlers Weekend Recap - November 3, 2025
On a busy weekend of Halloween festivities, Blue Jays sadness and upsets around the ACAC, Rustlers athletics continued to push forward with growth in the 2025-2026 season.
Rustlers Basketball
The men's and women's basketball teams went on their first long road trip of the year, competing in central Alberta against the Olds Broncos and Red Deer Kings/Queens. The women lost a tight contest against Olds on Friday 41-55, then lost in Red Deer the following evening. Alex McLaren led the team in scoring and rebounds.
The men's team won handily in both contests, 96-58 and 89-50. Taleh Wade averaged a team high 24 points a game for the weekend, while Jordan Horobetz-Simpson had a team high 16 rebounds. This improves the squad to 5-1, third in the North Division.
Rustlers Hockey
Women's hockey faced the NAIT Ooks in a home and away series over the weekend. It was also the team's Rustlers Scare hunger Campaign, with no-perishable food items to the food bank resulting in a Rustlers swag draw.
On Friday at the Hub, the teams traded power play goals in the first period, before a Kylie Perry breakaway and rebound put them ahead for good, winning 4-2. Keyra Buziak continued her scoring streak with the game winner and Paige Fischer made 16 saves in the win. Saturday's tilt was a lower scoring affair, with Addison Eurich scoring the game winner 15 minutes into the final frame, before the Rustlers added a Calla Kampen power play marker to win 2-0. Schay Camphaug made 24 stops to get the shutout.
