Women's Basketball
Team Record: 0-10
Division Rank: 6th
National Rank: None
Individual Leaders:
Taylor Hebert: Assists per game (2.3) Steals per game (2.7)
Reese Fenrich: Points per game (7.3) Rebounds per game (7.1)
Alex McLaren: Blocks per game (0.7)
The Skinny:
Sporting the youngest team in the country, the Rustlers nearly doubled their points per game by the end of the semester. Taylor Hebert and Reese Fenrich shined in multiple games on the offensive and defensive end.
The team will depart for Montana later this month for an exhibition trip and open the second half of the regular season on Jan. 9 at home.
Men's Basketball
Team Record: 8-2
Division Rank: 1st
National Rank: 9th
Individual Leaders:
Taleh Wade: Points per game (20.8)
Jordan Horobetz-Simpson: Rebounds per game (9.1) Blocks per game (0.5)
Seth Johnson: Assists per game (4.1) Steals per game (2.8)
The Skinny:
After missing an opportunity against the defending champions from Briercrest in the team's home/season opener, men's basketball have enjoyed one of their best ACAC campaigns in program history. The Rustlers are ranked ninth in the country, the highest the past 10 years for the program, and are the only squad to come close against the undefeated SAIT Trojans.
New transfers Taleh Wade and Seth Johnson quickly established themselves (with fifth-year Baha Salma) amongst the best guards in the league, with Wade sitting second in the league in scoring. Returning Rustler Jordan Horobetz-Simpson is seventh and sixth in points and rebounds. All five starters have scored in double digits in multiple games.
The men will join their female counterparts for the exhibition trip to Montana and face the Keyano Huskies to open the second half of the season. Should the Rustlers win both contests at home on Jan. 9-10, they would likely earn the right to host the ACAC Championship March 5-7.
