Rustlers Weekend Recap - March 16, 2026

As the collegiate sports season winds down across Canada, Rustlers Athletics enjoyed one of the most memorable weekends in Lakeland history.

Rustlers Volleyball

Women's volleyball journeyed to Manitoba for the CCAA National Championship, where they won their fourth consecutive gold medal. After winning in straight sets over the host Providence Pilots and Ontario champion Humber Hawks, the Rustlers faced a stiff test in the form of Quebec representative Edouard-Montpetit, who pushed the defending champs to four sets.

Rustlers Hockey

Back in the Border City, the women's hockey team came from behind to win the ACAC Finals three games to two, including a dramatic 1-0 victory in double overtime on Sunday. This was their second straight league title.

What's Coming Up

All that remains for the competition portion of the season is the ACAC Futsal Championship in Medicine Hat. Lakeland's women's team are up against the top ranked Concordia Thunder at 8:00 am Friday, while the men team face the host Rattlers at 11:45 am. All games can be viewed on ACAC TV.
