What year(s) did you compete for Lakeland:  2011 - 2016

How did playing for the Rustlers help you get to where you are today (career)?

Playing for the rustlers I learnt many many skills, such as teamwork, discipline, tenacity, the importance of communication, but most of it all it taught me to trust in the process. Trusting in the process is a concept in which I have brought with me and applied in all areas of my life. Yes the outcome may be important but perhaps all the inbetween moments hold some wisdoms as well.

Where are you working right now and what are you doing?

I currently am teaching yoga and meditation.  I teach at different studios, workplaces along with hosting virtual classes.  Alongside yoga, I am working at a fruitstand in Kelowna where I enjoy eating the Okanogan fruit.

Are you still involved with your sport you competed at Lakeland now? Coaching/playing etc.

I love watching and following along with the women's Rustler team, but I also have to priviledge of teaching yoga to the men's and women's volleyball teams at Lakeland.

What was your favourite moment at Lakeland as a student-athlete?

Its hard to pick just one but hosting nationals and getting second place was a huge highlight. The energy from the crowd the moment you stepped into that gym was like no other. So yes big exciting games were amazing but also just getting to create relationships with my teamates who ended up being my best friends.  Whether it was on road trips, cooking meals together, movie nights or pulling pranks the little moments were everything.

Are you still close with any former teammates?

Many of my former teamates are some of my greatest friends. You go through so much together that it connects you in a very special way. Although none of us live in the same city we all make an effort to visit whether that's through face time or in person. SO grateful for the wonderful souls that entered into my life through this experience.

If you could give a couple of words of advicce to our current Rustlers, what would it be?

Trusting in the process was one of the most valuable things I learned. So stay present and look for the wisdom in each moment. Look for the wisdom when you feel like giving up, look for the wisdom in the loses, look for wisdom in the moments where you doubt yourself. By trusting in the process you will become more resilent and youll realize the outcome isnt everything. There is sweetness in the struggles so I encourage you to try and enjoy all the inbetween moments and not just the wins and successes.

Any additional words of wisdom?

Have fun, don't take anything for granted and be present. Continue to be a student of the game and life, if you're open to it the game can change your life.
